The Foundation annually partners with the National Aviation Heritage Invitational, otherwise known as NAHI. The Invitational is dedicated to the recognition of excellence in the preservation and restoration of vintage aircraft in airworthy condition and is designed to encourage aviation history conservation. In fact, the Neil A. Armstrong Aviation Heritage Trophy resides in the Smithsonian National Air and Space museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Washington Dulles international Airport in Virginia.
In line with our theme of greater patron experience, this year’s relationship will be more interactive. NAHI will have a visible presence in the Foundation tent and will facilitate educational courses. The tent will also serve as a voting “hot spot” to increase visitors to the heritage section of the air race campus, as well as actively participate.
Fewer than 20% of visitors to the heritage area participated in the Invitational’s 2013 voting. Through the Foundation’s involvement, we aim to increase the participation to 40% at the upcoming Air Races. This will be accomplished through greater promotion, serving as a voting center, and personally interacting with visitors.
