Preserving aviation's past and fostering aviation's future are goals of the annual Pathways to Aviation Speakers Forum, taking place on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 6pm-9pm at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Joe Crowley Student Union Milt Glick Ballroom.
The public is invited to attend the free event. The annual speakers’ forum is a program of the Reno Air Racing Foundation (doing business as Pathways to Aviation), which provides funding and support to educational and historical initiatives enhancing air racing, aviation, and aerospace.
The event's keynote speaker will be Kevin "Nix" Mannix. Nix is a recently retired Director of Training in the U.S. Navy's Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center. Nix was the Commanding Officer and Flight Leader of the "Blue Angels" from 2006 to 2008.
Captain Mannix has served as a battle director of the Combined Air and Space Operations Center, completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I through the Air Force Air Command and Staff College, attended the Joint Forces Staff College completing JPME Phase II and in 2012 graduated Summa Cum Laude from Trident University with an MBA in Strategic Leadership. He was the recipient of the Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award in 2001 and 2005 and has accumulated over 6,000 flight hours with 1,328 carrier arrested landings on 12 different carriers.
RSVPs are required for attendance, which begins with a networking mixer at 6 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Student Union. The program and speakers begin at 7 p.m. RSVPs are ONLY being accepted by Pathways to Aviation.
